Spring is here! That means lots of horse hair flying about as fluffy winter coats make way for sleek shiny summer coats.
For those on the South Island of New Zealand the 2017 Canterbury A & P Show will again feature a European Native Breeds section which includes gaited breeds Icelandic Horse and Spanish Jennet. There will be in-hand and ridden classes. If you're in or near Christchurch on Friday 17 November be sure and check it out! For more info see http://www.theshow.co.nz.

Recent research suggests that the genetic mutation for a smooth ride first appeared in horses in medieval England and was later spread around the world by Viking traders.
